Don't load pop ups until you want them!
Popup
ViewShield is a free pop up blocker
with
unique features: it can either kill any pop up, or change its behavior from annoying to useful.
Old solutions limit your freedom, making hard to review unrequested pop ups from lists of skipped items. None help with requested pop ups: the more you open, the more have to be closed later.

Popup ViewShield offers a choice: skip, or load on demand:

How does it work? If site tries to open
an unrequested pop up, Popup ViewShield will keep it empty
and minimized. If you are interested, click
on the taskbar button, and pop up will be loaded and displayed.
Each pop up will automatically disappear when its
parent
site is closed or replaced, if you didn't ask to keep it open. For example:

1.
Unrequested pop up starts loading its content only after the click on its taskbar button.
|
2. This pop up will be automatically closed when its parent site disappears, unless you press a pin button. Install ViewShield and test it yourself. |
Popup
ViewShield offers complete control, unique features:
Separately control pop ups of three types
1. Unrequested
Opens without user input: when site is loaded, on timer, etc.
2. Requested, no interface Opens after click on the link; doesn't have any browser controls (address bar, "back" or "forward" buttons etc.).
3. Requested, with interface Opens after click on the link, or after "Shift+click", or after "Open in new window" request. Has at least some browser controls (address bar etc.) that make it useful longer.

Block or defer unrequested pop ups
Block all,
or only pop ups from different domains: same-domain pop ups are often useful.
Show taskbar button for each allowed pop up, but don't load or display its content until that taskbar button is selected. |
|
Close pop ups when their parent disappears
Automatically
close pop
up of any type when site that created it is replaced or closed.
